Among those who received the Winerd® game included Angelina Jolie, Donald Trump, and many others. "I see literally thousands of products and only a select few are chosen to be included in our high profile goodie bags,” explains Jane Ubell-Meyer, co-founder of Buzz Bags, LLC. “Of this select group, the Winerd® game was a true standout with its fun and innovative take on wine tasting.” Buzz Bags, LLC put together this year's Emmy® Time "Award Suites" goodie bags. The Emmy® Time "Award Suites" was the second recent high-profile celebrity event to feature the Winerd® Game in its collection of goodies. “It was very gratifying to hear the reaction that Winerd® received at July's Television Critics Awards in Hollywood” states Tamara Leigh Murphy, creator of the Winerd® game. “Now to get the game into the hands of some of the Emmy® presenters and other celebrities is even more exciting.” The Winerd® game “pairs” wine trivia questions with its unique spin on blind tasting. The Winerd® game is available for purchase at numerous retailers across the country, at www.winerdgame.com or by calling toll-free 866-467-WINE (9463). Winerd Entertainment, LLC was founded in 2002 by Tamara Leigh Murphy, a private wine instructor, and Richard Murphy to bring the fun of wine tasting to the masses and dispel the notion that wine has to be intimidating. CHICAGO , January 16, 2004 / PRNewswire/ -- It is often said that “love is blind.” This allows people to overlook flaws or shortcomings and embrace differences. That may be true for people but the Winerd® game allows wine lovers to test whether that adage applies to wines as well.
Three red or white wines are tasted and evaluated at the start of the game. Players advance their cork playing pieces by answering wine trivia questions and taking four Blind Taste Tests. The Winerd® game lets players pit their favorite wine up against two other wines and is available at www.winerdgame.com and at retailers nationwide.
“Wine aficionados tend to be both passionate and opinionated about their favorites. Some love the newest ‘it' wine based on a trend. Others may stick with the wine they have been enjoying for the last 20 years,” says Tamara Leigh Murphy, a private wine instructor and the game's creator.
In the Blind Taste tests a small taste of wine is poured out of sight and the player must guess the wine's origin, year and name. “This format introduces the blind tasting concept in a less intimidating way but players may still find it challenging to identify even their favorite. Wine is dynamic in nature and will often taste different than it did at the initial evaluation. Sometimes a harsh tasting wine at the beginning is the favorite by game's end,” says Murphy.
“It can be an eye-opening experience to see whether feelings about a wine hold steady without seeing its label,” says Murphy. With the Winerd® game, players can observe first-hand whether their love of their favorite wine will stand the test of time or if it was just a superficial attraction.

Wine Teacher Creates Wine Trivia and Blind Tasting Game for Wine Lovers
CHICAGO, November 3, 2003 / PRNewswire/ -- Tamara Leigh Murphy, a former chef and now a private wine instructor, created Winerd®, The Wine Tasting Game That Crushes Grape Fears™ for players to effortlessly learn about wine while laughing with their friends.
This new game “pairs” wine trivia questions with an innovative spin on blind tasting. The Winerd® game is available at www.winerdgame.com and at retailers nationwide.
“Many people are interested and yet intimidated when it comes to learning about wine. I wanted to dispel that fear and show how fun wine can be. I thought a board game was the perfect way to do this,” says Murphy.
The Winerd® game begins with the players tasting any 3 white or any 3 red wines of their choice. Using a provided note sheet they are guided through wine evaluation steps to record their impressions of each of the wines.
There are four “Blind Taste Test” spaces on the board during which a player must taste one of the 3 previously evaluated wines and guess its identity. “As the wines and the players' palates change throughout the game, this can be more challenging than one might think,” explains Murphy.
“By allowing the players to select their wines, they determine how difficult the game will be. Those with more wine tasting experience, for instance, may pick 3 wines similar in style making the blind tasting even more challenging,” Murphy states.
Players travel to Australia, Italy, Germany and France and back again across the game's spaces which depict fictitious wine labels. They advance their cork playing pieces by correctly answering multiple choice wine trivia questions.
Each question card is designed like a flash card to include a brief explanation as a way for the players to easily pick up wine facts. According to Murphy, “every aspect of this game is designed to simultaneously entertain and inform.”
The first to make it around the board gets bragging rights as the biggest “Wine Nerd”!
